The Workshop on Sovereign Debt Management, Sustainable Bonds, and Debt Transparency

Mauritius’ Minister of Finance, Dr. Renganaden Padayachy, inaugurated a two-day hybrid workshop on “Sovereign debt management, sustainable bonds, and debt transparency”.

The workshop, in collaboration with the Regional Centre of Excellence (RCE) of the Financial Services Commission (FSC) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), aims to strengthen the country’s debt management capacity and promote transparency. Topics covered include sovereign debt management practices, sustainable bonds, transparent debt markets, and cost reduction strategies.

The workshop emphasizes the impacts of climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic on debt management, and Mauritius’ commitment to sustainable finance and innovative funding models. Officials from various sectors also highlighted the importance of collaboration and sustainable financing for the nation’s economic growth.
