Mr. Assad Abdullatiff shares his insights on the convergence of the Global Business and Domestic regimes

Mr. Assad Abdullatiff, Managing Director at Axis, had the pleasure of being part of a distinguished panel of experts in the Webinar hosted by Mauritius Finance on 14 June 2022. The Webinar focused on debriefing the salient features of the Mauritius Budget 2022-2023 (the “Budget”) and the implications for the financial services sector.

Mr. Abdullatiff welcomed the initiative proposed in the Budget to converge the Global Business and Domestic sector into a single regime, which for him is a further step in the right direction and is in line with the OECD principles. He elaborated on the previous proposals of Mauritius Finance to the authorities regarding same and highlighted that these measures will aim to complete the integration of the domestic and offshore sector, whose first steps started back in 2001 with couple of legislative amendments. He further explained the positive impacts of the single regime and how these shall reinforce the image of the Mauritius IFC.

Mr. Abdullatiff also shared his insights on the concept of global minimum tax being introduced in our legislations which inspires from OECD/G20 Inclusive Framework on BEPS.
